Basic Composites Course (part 2) for homebuilders and general interest.

The Instructor is Ray Tolhurst from Composite Aero based at Camden Airport.
COURSE CONTENT
This course will cover fiberglassing in finer detail and includes vacuum bagging
* Revision exercise from Intro to Composites Course (part 1).
* Precise handling and weighing of resin.
* Hand layup of a flat mould with polyester, CSM and cloth, with attention to light weight.
* Talk about safety and materials handling regarding epoxies.
* Layup a pre-gelcoated mould with epoxy, multiple layers of cloth and peel ply, with attention on proper weighing out of resin and light weight.
* Watch a demonstration of vacuum bagging a part with epoxy, cloth and PVC foam. Use of peel ply, perforated film, absorbent material, different vacuum ports, vac tape, etc.
* Discussion of "caull plates", finding and fixing leaking vacuum, etc.
* Teams of two to layup own epoxy/vacuum laminate.

WHAT TO BRING
Feel free to bring a sample of your own work if there is something in particular you've been unable to finish, the instructor will help you on this. The finishing of a composite/fibreglass part eg. filling of pin holes, will be covered in the course and within reason you will be able to work on your own parts if you choose to.
